During the recent war on the Gaza Strip, hospitals faced an unprecedented crisis represented by the severe shortage of essential medicines and life-saving treatments, at a time when the number of wounded and injured people was increasing beyond the capacity of the health system to absorb. With the siege and the closure of crossings, hospitals became unable to meet patients' needs, putting the lives of thousands at risk.
In response to these harsh humanitarian conditions, the International Medical Relief Association (Medics) implemented an urgent project to provide shipments of essential medicines and medical treatments, including pain relievers, antibiotics, emergency medicines, and the necessary supplies for caring for the wounded and sick. This project helped fill a vital part of the shortage and enabled medical teams to continue providing life-saving care despite the severity of the situation.
Thanks to this intervention, more than 50,000 patients and injured people received treatment in various hospitals across the Gaza Strip, while the impact was indirectly felt by hundreds of thousands of families who found in the continuation of medical services a ray of hope amid the reality of displacement and destruction. This project was a fundamental pillar in supporting the resilience of the health sector and strengthening hospitals' ability to confront one of the most difficult stages Gaza has gone through.
