Türkiye

An introduction to the region’s situation, crises and severe need:

The February 2023 earthquake disaster in Turkey left human losses and widespread damage, and health needs that extended beyond the emergency response, including physical rehabilitation for the injured, psychological support for survivors, and continued care for people with chronic illnesses. In addition to the needs of those affected by disasters, the most vulnerable groups of refugees and low-income families need support to overcome the barriers they face in accessing treatment and medical follow-up.

Medics worked to support these groups in Turkey through mobile clinics serving refugees in border areas, psychological support programs for affected families, coverage of surgery costs for critical cases, and training for medical teams in cooperation with partner Turkish hospitals, to help alleviate suffering and strengthen opportunities for recovery.
